By the 7th century, most of the main features of the Hindu temple were established with theoretical texts on temple architecture and construction methods. A large number of temples and their ruins have survived from the middle of the 7th and 13th centuries (though only a little less than once in existence). Many regional styles developed, which often came after the political division, because the big temples were usually made with royal patronage. In the north, since the 11th century, Muslim invasions have reduced the construction of temples, and saw the loss of many existing people. Hindu-Muslim conflicts that affected the temples in the South were also seen, but this area was relatively less affected than the North. In the latter half of the 14th century, Hindu Vijayanagar empire came to power in southern India and he controlled a lot. During this period, the long Gopuram Gatehouse is actually added to the old big temples, after the late development, 12th century or later.
